History

Bhaskar Wagle began his architectural practice from a small room in his ancestral house in Fontainhas, Goa in the year 1980.

Young Bhaskar Wagle completed his formal education in Architecture from Sir J.J. College of Architecture, Mumbai in the year 1970, having topped in design.

The creative journey thus began by coming back to Goa. He started his career by working with the Town & Country Planning Department, Government of Goa. The extreme creative urge made him leave the secured Government job and venture into private practice, a path less taken by the architects in those days.

He won the Architectural design competition for the proposed building for the administrative building block at Margao - Goa for Industrial Development Corporation of Goa and thus began the journey of M/s Bhaskar Wagle and Associates… Moving into self-owned office in early 1980s, the firm was involved in offering services to various projects ranging from residential, commercial, religious etc.

Bhaskar Wagle was also involved in taking up several public importance issues concerning the profession.

The 1990s decade saw a steady rise with firm venturing into bigger projects. The Panaji City’s landmark building of the iconic Maruti Temple at Mala was designed and executed during this period. Many projects like Hotel for GTDC at Miramar and Mala Market project were conceived and taken up during this period. Many Commercial and residential buildings were also designed during this period.

Year 2000 saw the induction of Ar. Dattaprasad Wagle & Ar. Vibha Wagle in the M/s Bhaskar Wagle & Associates fold. They worked tirelessly to uplift the firm from a small proprietorship to a multidisciplinary architectural consultancy firm capable of handling large public importance schemes and bigger projects. The office was fully computerized and newer technologies were introduced in the practice. The work strength of the office was also steadily increased.

Year 2010 marked a new phase in the practice. The year saw Ar. Dattaprasad Wagle & Ar. Vibha Wagle mobilized and lead the firm to a comprehensive win in a National level design competition to design and prepare a Master Plan for the Temple Town of Mardol.

This was followed by preparation of Master Plan for the Temple town of Ramnathi in Ponda Taluka & Shri Dattawadi saunsthan at Sanquelim. The association with Goa State Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd. also began during this period working on many school projects across Goa, Institutional projects, Market Complexes etc.

Goa’s only Juvenile centre “Apna Ghar” was renovated and rejuvenated into one of the most unique buildings in India catering to the needs of Children in conflict with the law and the orphaned children. The project saw an innovative and experimental approach of a “Building that Heals”… The building was appreciated for its innovative design approach.

The new decade marks the emergence of M/s Bhaskar Wagle & Associates as one of the most sort after Architectural Consultancy firms in Goa and beyond. M/s Bhaskar Wagle and Associates has metamorphosed into WAGLE ARCHITECTS & DESIGN ASSOCIATES - STUDIO INDIA, (WADA Studio India) in order to help our Capacity Building exercise and making the firm Multidisciplinary by attracting more associates specialised in various streams. This would help us to further our endeavour of providing a Holistic Consultancy to our Clients…
